Local Artist Support Fund

Since the beginning of April, the Local Artist Support Fund
has raised $12,000 and made “mini-grants” to 46 Gallup area artists
negatively economically impacted by the coronavirus crisis.

The gallupARTS Board of Directors established the Local Artist Support Fund in April 2020 in response to the coronavirus crisis. The purpose of the fund is to bridge the gap in emergency relief aid for Gallup-area artists who have been negatively economically impacted by the pandemic. The fund will award as many rapid response, unrestricted “mini-grants” ($200 – $300) as possible to assist artists with

    • lost sales opportunities;
    • lost wages and earnings;
    • loss from event, performance, and school- or community-based teaching opportunities;
    • rent and mortgage payments, food, utilities, medical bills, and other living expenses;
    • Creative solutions such as equipping an online business.

The Local Artist Support Fund is open to individual artists of all disciplines living in the Gallup and the surrounding area.

Applicants must be:

    • 18 years of age or older;
    • Residents of the greater Gallup area (preference given to artists residing in Gallup and McKinley County);
    • Individual artists of any discipline.

Applicants must NOT be:

    • Applying on behalf of a company, nonprofit, organization, community group, ensembles, or collective;
    • Current gallupARTS contractors, member artists, or Directors.

The Fund is making its final round of mini-grants in August 2020, with an application deadline of Friday, August 21 at 5pm.
