Local Artist Support Fund
Between April and September 2020, the Local Artist Support Fund
made $14,650 in “mini-grants” to 60 Gallup area artists
negatively economically impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
OVERVIEW
The gallupARTS Board of Directors established the Local Artist Support Fund in April 2020 in response to the coronavirus crisis. The purpose of the fund was to bridge the gap in emergency relief aid for Gallup-area artists who have been negatively economically impacted by the pandemic. The fund awarded rapid response, unrestricted “mini-grants” ($200 – $300) to assist artists with
-
- lost sales opportunities;
- lost wages and earnings;
- loss from event, performance, and school- or community-based teaching opportunities;
- rent and mortgage payments, food, utilities, medical bills, and other living expenses;
- Creative solutions such as equipping an online business.
The Local Artist Support Fund made its final round of mini-grants in August 2020. The application is now closed.
