The Story of 1,000 Paper Cranes

It is Japanese legend that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the gods, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. Some versions of the story believe that accomplishing this feat brings happiness and eternal good luck. 1,000 cranes are folded because in Japanese folklore, cranes are mystical creatures that live 1,000 years.
